Chungju City Joins Forces with Chungju Culture & Tourism Foundation to Revitalize Old Downtown Commercial Districts

**Holding the 4th 'Beautiful Postcard Contest for Old Downtown Commercial Districts'**

Chungju City is partnering with the Commercial District Revitalization Project Team of the Chungju Culture & Tourism Foundation to introduce participatory cultural initiatives aimed at encouraging visits to the old downtown area and revitalizing local commercial districts.

Under the theme of "Small Happiness in Chungju's Old Downtown Commercial District: A Place You Want to Walk and Stay," Chungju is hosting the "4th Beautiful Postcard Contest with Chungju's Old Downtown Commercial District" and is accepting entries until August 31.

This contest is a cultural content initiative designed to allow citizens and visitors to directly discover and share the unique charms of the old downtown area. Participants can submit entries by freely capturing diverse scenes—such as tour maps of representative foods like sundae and dumplings, handwritten messages encouraging visits, or views of the district at different times of the day—on a single government-issued postcard measuring 14.7 cm wide and 10 cm high. Anyone can submit up to three entries per person, regardless of region or age. This year, the submission period has been extended by approximately two months compared to the previous round to allow participants to further enhance the quality of their work.

The winning entries will be announced in October. The final selected major works will be exhibited at the ‘Chungju (Alcohol) Fair’ festival, scheduled for October, and will serve as promotional content to widely publicize the commercial district of Chungju’s old downtown.

In an interview, the Head of the Economic Division of Chungju City stated that Chungju’s old downtown is a precious local commercial district steeped in the daily lives and memories of citizens, as well as a place that conveys unique charm to visitors. He expressed hope that this contest would serve as an opportunity for many people to discover the hidden value of the old downtown and take an interest in revitalizing the commercial district.
