Chungcheongbuk-do Office of Education Launches ‘26 Always Spring Book Student Writer Academy’ Linking Reading and Writing
The Chungcheongbuk-do Office of Education is holding the ‘2026 Always Spring Book Student Writer Academy’ at the audiovisual room of the Educational Research and Information Institute, officially launching the ‘Always Spring Book Student Writer’ project, in which students complete their own stories into a book based on their reading. This project was established in conjunction with ‘Always Spring Book,’ a Chungcheongbuk-do style reading education policy, to support students in developing their creative capabilities by allowing them to directly experience the entire process—from planning and writing to editing, revision, supplementation, and publication—and to develop the thoughts and experiences gained through reading into writing. The vision is to expand in-depth reading and thinking, which can easily be weakened in a digital environment, into writing, thereby fostering critical thinking, expressive skills, and self-understanding.
This year’s student writer project involves 330 student teams totaling 397 students and their supervising teachers from across the province, and is being conducted on a scale more than double that of last year. Over the next six months, participating students will complete their own books through a process of writing, editing, and revising. They plan to share the fruits of their creative work with their families, friends, and the educational community through subsequent publication and a book launch event.
At the academy held on this day, which marked the start of the project, general operational guidelines were provided, along with a session to share best practices from last year's participating students and supervising teachers. Following this, author Eun-yu, known as the "Forefront of Writing," delivered a special lecture titled "Let's Write What Only I Can Write." She shared in depth with the participants methods for expressing personal experiences through writing and the intrinsic meaning of writing. Through a Q&A session, the attending students and supervising teachers enhanced their understanding of the project's operational direction and the writing process, while also resolving their curiosity regarding future creative activities.
Superintendent Yoon Gun-young emphasized that as digital and AI technologies advance, the experience of reading deeply and expressing one's own thoughts becomes increasingly important. He further stated that he would continue to actively support students so that they can grow into creators who communicate with the world through the experience of questioning, contemplating, and completing a book in their own unique language.
