Jeungpyeong-gun Prepares Rich Cultural Events, From Youth Club Performances to Over 10 Experience Booths
Youth-Created Festival ‘Cheong-Gae-Gu-Ri’ to be Held on September 2
The 2nd Youth Festival, ‘Cheong-Gae-Gu-Ri,’ created and enjoyed by the youth of Jeungpyeong-gun, will take place on September 2 at 4:00 PM in the area surrounding the Kim Deuk-sin Literature Museum.
Hosted by Jeungpyeong-gun and co-organized by the Jeungpyeong-gun Youth Culture House, the Youth Counseling and Welfare Center, and the Youth Training Center, this event is a youth-centered festival where youth directly participate from the planning stage to proactively organize and operate performances and experience programs.
The festival name, ‘Cheong-Gae-Gu-Ri,’ is derived from the first letters of ‘Real Festival on September 24th,’ symbolizing the youth age group of 9 to 24 while embodying the youth’s determination to participate proactively. Jeungpyeong County declared September 24th as Youth Day last year and held its first festival; however, considering the Chuseok holiday schedule, the date has been adjusted to September 2nd at 4:00 PM this year, with experience and promotional booths operating in advance starting at 3:00 PM.
On the day of the event, youth will showcase their talents without reservation through club performances including singing, dancing, bands, cheerleading, and Nanta drumming. In addition, they will welcome visitors by directly operating various experience booths, such as "Life 4-Cut" photo booths, healthy snack kit making, face painting, and hairpieces.
Designed to allow youth to proactively manage the event and gain experience in communicating and collaborating with peers, this festival is organized as an open cultural event that local residents, as well as youth, can freely participate in and enjoy.
An official from Jeungpyeong County stated that the event holds deep significance in that youth become the true owners of the festival through the process of personally naming the event and preparing the programs. They expressed hope that the festival will be a vibrant occasion where the diverse personalities and talents of youth are fully expressed, and where peers and the local community come together in harmony.
