Jeungpyeong County to Host Resident Participation Festival at 'Maryknoll Village Creative Workshop' to Revitalize Old Downtown

Jeungpyeong County will host "Everyone's Childhood Innocence, Come Play at Maryknoll Creative Workshop," a family-oriented, resident-participation festival, at the Maryknoll Village Creative Workshop from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM on the 21st. Organized by the theater group Baekkop and featuring the full participation of all three new artists at the Maryknoll Village Creative Workshop's artist residency, this event is designed as a meaningful lifestyle and culture festival where residents and artists come together in harmony. The county has meticulously curated a diverse program including hands-on activities, games, exhibitions, performances, and food, ensuring that all generations, from children to adults, can enjoy the event together, transcending time and space. Residents can spend a special time encountering art in their daily lives by directly experiencing culture and art with all their senses throughout the workshop's spaces. On the first floor of the building, participatory experience programs are available year-round, including a "Face Guestbook" where visitors can leave their unique faces and warm messages, "Maryknoll Scent Tag Making" where participants decorate soft-scented paper air fresheners, and "Eco-bag Making" where they design their own bags using natural materials. Ascending the stairs to the second floor, visitors are greeted by a special exhibition titled "Artists Live at the Maryknoll Village Creative Studio." This exhibition provides a detailed introduction to the unique artistic worlds and intense creative processes of resident artists through videos, portfolios, and leaflets, serving as a venue for communication that closely connects local residents and artists.

In the spacious parking lot, the children's participatory play "Mom's Errand" will take the stage, offering a special cultural and artistic experience to visiting families. While the performance is primarily held on an outdoor stage, it will be moved to the indoor space on the first floor for safety in the event of rain. In addition, an exciting treasure hunt event will be held to find treasures hidden in every corner of the creative center, along with a children's play competition where the whole family can unite in participation, featuring games such as *ddakji* (paper flipping), cup stacking, *maepae* (traditional Korean seal flipping), and bubble blowing. These intergenerational games are garnering great anticipation, as they are expected to provide children with exciting memories and adults with a vivid sense of nostalgia for their childhood. On one side of the festival grounds, a variety of food stalls will be set up to liven up the atmosphere, featuring tasting corners for fragrant drip coffee and health teas, sharing of rice cakes to celebrate residency, and nostalgic cotton candy and *dalgona* (traditional Korean honeycomb candy).

In an interview, the Mayor of Jeungpyeong County explained that this event is a meaningful occasion where resident artists of the Maryknoll Village Creative Center and local residents come together to showcase diverse cultural and artistic experiences. He emphasized that he will spare no support to ensure the Maryknoll Village Creative Center firmly establishes itself as a key space that connects the culture and arts of residents' daily lives with a close-knit village community. Jeungpyeong County plans to use this festival as an important opportunity to encourage the Maryknoll Village Creative Studio to establish itself as a hub for living culture where residents and artists communicate and grow together, while concentrating administrative efforts on revitalizing the stagnant local culture and arts ecosystem and rapidly restoring vitality to the old downtown area.
