South Jeolla Province Joins Hands with 5 Domestic Robot Anchor Companies… Leaping to Become a Mecca for Intelligent Robots

Integrating ‘Physical AI’ into Region’s Key Industries, Including Shipbuilding, Energy, and Agriculture/Fisheries… Accelerating the Establishment of an Industrial Ecosystem

(Muan = Break News) Reporter Lee Hak-su = South Jeolla Province is embarking on a full-scale effort to build a robot industry ecosystem centered on industrial sites by collaborating with Korea’s leading robot anchor companies.

South Jeolla Province announced that it signed a "Memorandum of Understanding for the Fostering of the Intelligent Robot Industry" with five leading domestic robot companies—Rainbow Robotics, Doosan Robotics, Neuromeca, Klobot, and Sizzle—at the Seo Jae-pil Room of the Provincial Office on the 29th.

South Jeolla Province Vice Governor for Economic Affairs Kang Wi-won, along with representatives and officials from each company, attended the signing ceremony to reaffirm their commitment to close cooperation for the development of the robot industry in South Jeolla Province. This agreement was established to elevate industrial competitiveness to the next level by integrating advanced robot technology into key regional industries, such as shipbuilding, energy, and agriculture and fisheries, leveraging Jeonnam’s extensive industrial sites and excellent infrastructure, including abundant electricity and water resources.

In particular, Jeonnam is recognized as an optimal testbed for the demonstration and dissemination of "Physical AI"-based robot technology—where AI perceives and acts in the real world—due to its diverse manufacturing base.

Under the agreement, Jeonnam Province and the five companies have agreed to establish a full-cycle cooperation system to support the entire robot industry process, including technology development, demonstration, commercialization, and the training of specialized personnel.

Furthermore, they plan to jointly plan policies and new national projects in the field of intelligent robots and join forces to ensure that developed robot technologies are rapidly applied and disseminated to actual industrial sites.

Jeonnam Province plans to proceed in stages, starting with the expansion of robot demonstration projects in industrial settings, followed by attracting promising robot companies, creating specialized clusters, and advancing the AI and data-based robot industry. Through this, it is expected to contribute not only to improving productivity in the local manufacturing industry and preventing industrial accidents, but also to the advancement of the regional industrial structure.

Kang Wi-won, Vice Governor for Economic Affairs of Jeollanam-do, emphasized, “The robotics industry is a core industry of physical AI, where artificial intelligence is realized through perception, judgment, and action in the real world,” adding, “With this agreement as a stepping stone, we will elevate Jeollanam-do into a hub for industrial site-centered robot utilization.”
