의령군은 지난 20일 군청 민원실에서 의령경찰서와 합동으로 특이민원 비상상황 대비 모의훈련을 진행했다고 밝혔다.

이번 훈련은 민원 응대 과정에서 발생할 수 있는 폭언과 위협 상황에 신속히 대응하고 공무원과 방문 민원인의 안전 확보 체계를 점검하기 위해 마련됐다.

훈련은 실제 여권 발급 민원 과정에서 발생할 수 있는 상황을 가정해 진행됐다. 현장에서는 폭언 발생 시 민원 중단 요청, 비상벨 호출과 경찰 신고, 민원인 대피, 특이민원인 제압 및 경찰 인계 등의 절차를 점검했다.

의령군은 반복되는 민원실 안전사고 우려에 대응해 매년 경찰과 합동 모의훈련을 실시하고 있다.

최근 전국적으로 민원 현장 내 폭언과 폭행 사건이 이어지면서 지방자치단체들도 비상벨 설치와 대응 매뉴얼 정비 등 민원 공무원 보호 대책을 강화하는 추세다.
