충청북도교육청은 30일 충북반도체고등학교를 방문해 대회를 준비 중인 학생 선수들의 훈련 상황을 살피고 현장의 목소리를 청취했다. 전국기능경기대회는 숙련기술인을 발굴하고 지역 간 기술 수준 향상을 위해 매년 열리는 국가기술기능대회로, 올해 제61회 대회는 오는 8월 22일부터 28일까지 인천에서 개최된다. 이번 대회에 충북에서는 직업계고 15개교 학생 89명이 폴리메카트로닉스 등 30개 직종에 지역 대표로 참가한다.
