Boeun County Welcomes Youth Delegation from Miyazaki, Japan, a Sister City of 30 Years of Friendship

Boeun County is promoting an international exchange event for future generations by inviting a youth delegation from Miyazaki, Japan, its sister city with which it has maintained friendly relations for over 30 years.

Boeun County announced that a youth delegation consisting of a total of 14 people—10 middle school students from Miyazaki and 4 chaperones—will visit the county for a three-day, two-night trip from July 31 to August 2 for the purpose of cultural exchange. Boeun County and Miyazaki City have been fostering the global perspective of future generations and solidifying their long-standing friendship through a reciprocal youth exchange program in which they take turns visiting each other's cities.

Starting with a welcoming ceremony on the first day of the visit, the delegation will vividly experience Korean traditional culture and daily life by participating in activities such as making flower-shaped jelly, homestays with Korean families, and programs at the Boeun County Youth Center. In particular, middle school students from Boeun County will participate throughout the entire itinerary to naturally communicate and build camaraderie. The youth from Boeun County who participated in the exchange will visit Miyazaki City this coming November to continue their local cultural experiences in Japan.

The Mayor of Boeun County emphasized that Miyazaki City is a very meaningful and precious sister city with which Boeun County has shared a history of over 30 years. He stated that the county will spare no effort in supporting local youth to grow into global talents with broad perspectives by continuously expanding multifaceted cooperation projects, including youth cultural exchanges.

Taking this exchange as an opportunity, Boeun County plans to further revitalize private-sector exchanges with Miyazaki City and expand the foundation for experiential learning that will enable youth to grow into global leaders.
