"Gwangju's 'Taste' Captures the World"… 2026 Gwangju Food Fair Opens on the 21st

300 Companies, 400 Booths… Significantly Enhanced Business Activities, Including the Largest-Ever Overseas Export Consultation Meeting- From Nongshim and Hite Jinro to Chang-eok Tteok and Gungjeon Confectionery… Special Pavilions for Local Desserts and Cafes Attract Attention

(Gwangju = Break News) Reporter Lee Hak-su = Honam's largest food festival, which aims to establish Gwangju's unrivaled 'taste' as a brand asset and connect it to the global market, is set to begin.

Gwangju Metropolitan City announced that it will host the '2026 Gwangju Food Fair' at the Kim Dae-jung Convention Center for four days from the 21st to the 24th. The event is designed to rediscover the value of local food and lead an industrial leap forward.

Born in its 21st year, the Gwangju Food Fair will feature the participation of over 300 companies filling approximately 400 booths, with plans to further strengthen the excellent competitiveness of the region's food culture. In particular, Daejeon has significantly strengthened its business functions this year to help the Honam food industry leap into the global market. In addition to distribution and purchasing consultations that support practical sales channels for domestic small business owners and SMEs, the scale of export consultations with invited overseas buyers has been more than doubled from 24 last year to 52 this year. Through these efforts, the plan is to establish a solid foothold for outstanding local food companies to expand beyond boosting domestic demand and reach the global stage.

The exhibition hall stands out for its harmonious composition of major food corporations and representative regional brands. Along with leading domestic conglomerates such as Nongshim and Hite Jinro, a large number of local brands symbolizing Gwangju—including Chang-eok Tteok, Gungjeon Confectionery, Bebiere, and Bread Seven—are participating to present rich content that stimulates the senses of visitors. Furthermore, live commerce broadcasts will be streamed from within the exhibition hall to extend the vibrancy of the venue to the online market.

A special pavilion that sheds new light on the value of regional brands by reflecting the latest trends in the food and beverage (F&B) industry is also drawing attention. Visitors will be greeted by the ‘Bread & Dessert Curation’ zone, curated by famous local influencer ‘Sugar Rabbit’; the ‘Roastery Cafe Collective’ zone, where they can experience Gwangju’s trendy coffee culture; and the ‘Gwangju-Jeonnam Franchise Fair,’ which aims to nationalize the local F&B industry.

In addition, the ‘Dalbit Alliance Pavilion,’ embodying the mutual growth and solidarity between Gwangju and Daegu, and the ‘Gwangju-Jeonnam Gourmet Special Pavilion’ provide a glimpse into inter-regional exchange and future food trends. Furthermore, a variety of participatory programs taking place both inside and outside the exhibition hall, such as the ‘Gwangju Chef Challenge,’ ‘National Sushi King in Korea,’ and the ‘Eco-friendly K-FOOD Startup Cooking Competition,’ are prepared to heighten the festive atmosphere.
