Gwangju City Recruits for ‘Dreamter’ Youth Work Experience Program for Second Half… “90% Labor Cost Support”

Recruitment for the ‘20th Dreamter’ runs until the 17th… Targeting workplaces with 5 or more permanent employees - Operates for 5 months from August to December; up to 2.4 million won in incentives provided upon hiring as a regular employee after completion

(Gwangju=Break News) Reporter Lee Hak-su = Gwangju Metropolitan City’s flagship youth employment program, which provides practical work experience to unemployed youth and helps them settle in the region, is launching recruitment for participating companies for the second half of this year.

Gwangju Metropolitan City announced that it is recruiting ‘Dreamter (workplaces)’ until the 17th to participate in the ‘Gwangju Youth Work Experience Dream Project’ for the second half of this year and provide high-quality job experience to young people.

The ‘Gwangju Youth Work Experience Dream Project’ is a core youth employment program of Gwangju City designed to support unemployed youth in strengthening their employment capabilities by performing actual duties at excellent local workplaces, and ultimately helping them settle stably into the local community. The recruitment for the second half of the Dream Center program is open to workplaces with five or more full-time employees located in Gwangju Metropolitan City, the Gwangju-Jeonnam Joint Innovation City, and the Bitgreen Industrial Complex.

Participants must provide job roles that allow young people to develop practical skills by reflecting the specific characteristics of each workplace, rather than simple administrative support tasks. However, startups, social enterprises, social welfare agencies, and non-profit organizations may apply even if they have fewer than five full-time employees, provided they submit relevant certification documents.

The finally selected 20th Dream Centers will work with young people for up to five months, from this coming August to December. During this period, Gwangju City plans to significantly reduce the employment burden on companies by providing exceptional support covering 90% of the labor costs for participating youths.

In particular, the city intends to encourage long-term employment of local youth by providing an additional "linked recruitment incentive" of up to 2.4 million won per youth to small and medium-sized enterprises that formally hire participating youths for at least one year after the work experience program concludes. Companies and organizations wishing to participate should register on the ‘Gwangju Youth Work Experience Dream’ website and submit an application by 5:00 PM on the 17th. Gwangju City plans to select and announce the final participating Dream Sites at the end of June following on-site verification and screening of the applicant workplaces.

Further details can be found on the Gwangju Youth Work Experience Dream website and the Gwangju Youth Integrated Platform. Inquiries should be directed to the implementing agency, the Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation of Chonnam National University (Work Experience Dream Project Team).
