CJ Olive Young will open its first brick-and-mortar store in Pasadena, Los Angeles, on May 29, alongside the launch of a U.S.-only online store.
The Pasadena flagship is the first of five Olive Young stores scheduled to open in Los Angeles by year-end. The chain is targeting high-traffic locations, including Westfield Century City and Del Amo Fashion Center in Torrance, building out a Los Angeles footprint anchored in areas with concentrated demand from tourists and Korean American consumers.
The Pasadena store opens at 58 West Colorado Boulevard in Old Pasadena, in the former Foot Locker space next to the Apple store. It will carry roughly 400 brands at launch and feature AI-powered skin and scalp diagnostic devices for personalized recommendations.
The Korean health and beauty retailer established its U.S. arm, CJ Olive Young USA, last year and set up its first U.S. logistics center in Bloomington in March, preparing the operational backbone for its North American expansion.
The new U.S. e-commerce platform, Olive Young US, will go live on the same day. From May 29, U.S.-based customers visiting Olive Young's existing global mall will be automatically redirected to the U.S. platform.
The membership system will be fully separated. Olive Young plans to introduce a new U.S.-only membership program, though points and product reviews accumulated by U.S. customers on the global mall will be transferred to the U.S. platform.
The chain is also overhauling its influencer and affiliate marketing structure for the U.S. market. The existing affiliate program for U.S. residents under the global mall will be terminated, and operations will transfer to a new Rakuten U.S. affiliate program designed for the local market.
The Sephora partnership, which will introduce Olive Young-curated K-beauty zones in roughly 700 Sephora stores worldwide beginning this fall, runs in parallel with the Pasadena rollout.
