KEPCO KPS Donates 10 Million Won Worth of Home Appliances to Senior Centers and Vulnerable Groups in Yeongsan-dong, Naju
Customized Win-Win Cooperation with Yeongsan-dong Community Social Security Council… Delivered to 5 Senior Centers and 11 Underprivileged Households - Leading the Social Responsibility of Public Institutions, Including Selection for the Community Contribution Recognition System for 7 Consecutive Years
(Naju = Break News) Reporter Lee Hak-su = KEPCO KPS has extended a warm helping hand of sharing to foster mutual growth with the local community of Yeongsan-dong, Naju, Jeollanam-do.
KEPCO KPS announced that it carried out a community sharing activity by donating electronic appliances worth a total of 10 million won to five senior centers and vulnerable groups within Yeongsan-dong.
This donation was made possible after the Yeongsan-dong Community Social Security Council (hereinafter Yeongsan-dong Community Social Security Council) proposed collaboration on social contribution activities to KEPCO KPS last April to improve the living environments of the elderly and vulnerable groups. KEPCO KPS finalized the project as a public-private partnership after conducting an internal evaluation and decided to proceed with the donation.
Accordingly, the Yeongsan-dong Community Support Association and KEPCO KPS are providing large home appliances worth a total of 7 million won—including one air conditioner, two kimchi refrigerators, one regular refrigerator, and one TV—to five senior centers in the district to help ensure a pleasant and comfortable leisure life for the elderly.
In addition, they plan to provide a secure home environment by delivering customized small home appliances worth a total of 3 million won, such as electric rice cookers and gas stoves, to 11 vulnerable households that have been experiencing inconvenience in their daily lives due to outdated small appliances.
This project is being recognized as an exemplary model of mutually beneficial cooperation where a public institution and the local community have joined hands to create synergy. KEPCO KPS, which is sponsoring the initiative, is fulfilling its social responsibilities as a leading local public enterprise; it has been recognized for its consistent philanthropic management, selected for the "Community Contribution Recognition System" for seven consecutive years, achieved the highest rating (S) in all categories for three consecutive years, and received the Minister of Health and Welfare Award last year. Choi Do-chan, Chairman of the Private Sector Committee of the Yeongsan-dong Support Association, stated, “I am deeply grateful for the active support from KEPCO KPS, which has enabled us to provide a convenient and safe living environment for the elderly and neighbors in our district.” He added, “We will continue to steadily carry out comprehensive sharing activities to resolve welfare blind spots and support the underprivileged.”
Lee Yeon-ok, Head of Yeongsan-dong, said, “I am thankful to KEPCO KPS for extending a helping hand of continuous interest and cooperation toward the local residents.” She added, “We will ensure that the donated home appliances are properly delivered to the elderly and marginalized neighbors, along with their meaningful purpose.”
