Enjoy the Romance of the Art Museum on Weekday Nights… Jeonnam Museum of Art Operates ‘Museum Night’
Extended evening hours until 9 PM on the last Wednesday of every month - Poetic Museum Concert featuring pianist Bae Sun-ah to be held on the 27th - Special exhibitions by Heo Dal-jae and Kuhn van den Broek; professional night docents operating at 6 PM and 8 PM
(Muan/Gwangyang = Break News) Reporter Lee Hak-su = The Jeonnam Museum of Art is opening its doors wide at night for office workers and residents who find it difficult to visit during weekday daytime hours.
The Jeonnam Museum of Art announced that it will operate ‘Museum Night,’ featuring diverse content such as night docents, music performances, and cultural experiences, as part of the ‘Culture Day’ events.
‘Museum Night’ is a program that extends opening hours until 9 PM every last Wednesday of the month to provide residents with a more leisurely opportunity to enjoy culture. Going beyond simply extending viewing hours, the museum plans to present carefully selected nighttime content every month—including nighttime docent exhibition commentary, performance programs, curator talks, and cultural arts education programs—to allow visitors to fully enjoy the unique atmosphere of the museum at night.
On the 27th of this month at 7 PM, the Seo Jeong-hyeong Museum Concert "Spring Letters from Florida" will take place indoors as a special "Museum Night" program. Under the theme of "A Performance Flowing with Waves, Light, Laughter, and Hope," pianist Bae Soon-ah, trumpeter Park Han-ri, and others will perform, presenting classical melodies that capture the vibrancy of spring.
During the extended nighttime hours on that day, visitors can also view the museum's renowned special exhibitions in depth. The "Nighttime Docent" program, which allows visitors to appreciate the currently running exhibitions "Jikheon Heo Dal-jae, Embracing Life" and Koen van den Broek's "The Skin of the Earth" with in-depth commentary from professional docents, will be held twice, at 6 PM and 8 PM. Lee Ji-ho, Director of the Jeonnam Museum of Art, stated, “Through ‘Museum Night,’ held on the last week of every month, I hope residents will frequently encounter art in their daily lives and experience the unique nighttime atmosphere of the museum.” He added, “We will continue to prepare diverse content to expand opportunities for residents to enjoy culture.”
Meanwhile, the Jeonnam Museum of Art has been taking the lead in realizing resident-centered cultural welfare, such as expanding ‘Culture Day’ to every Wednesday and offering free admission since last April, in line with the amendment of the ‘Enforcement Decree of the Framework Act on Culture.’
