Chungbuk Office of Education Hosts Experience Booths and Talk Concert to Promote Youth Mental Health

The Chungbuk Office of Education has embarked on a full-scale effort to foster a healthy school culture where students take care of their own minds and freely express their emotions.

On the 26th, the Chungbuk Office of Education participated in the "Minds Also Need to Learn to Grow" student mental health promotion campaign and proclamation ceremony held at Miho Middle School, affiliated with Korea National University of Education, spreading awareness of the importance of emotional health. This event, jointly promoted by the Ministry of Education and city/provincial offices of education, was organized to help youth cultivate emotional independence and spread a culture of empathy with others.

Approximately 400 people, including students and pre-service teachers from Miho Middle School, attended the event and participated in a variety of programs. Participants enjoyed the event in a lively atmosphere, directly experiencing mental health promotion booths and learning the song and choreography for the logo song challenge. In-depth communication regarding student emotional support took place during the subsequent proclamation ceremony and talk concert.

The Chungbuk Office of Education is promoting this event in conjunction with the "Interest × Expression 365" project, a life-respect practice initiative. Through this initiative, the plan is to encourage the educational community to carefully observe even the slightest changes in students year-round and maintain warm interactions. To enable the early detection of students in crisis, the triangular cooperation system connecting schools, educational support offices, and the Provincial Office of Education will be strengthened, and customized recovery support encompassing counseling, treatment, and referrals to specialized institutions will be sustained.

In addition, the "Minds Also Need to Learn to Grow" school-versus-school challenge will be launched for schools of all levels within the province until October 30. This participatory event, in which students create choreography videos set to a designated theme song and share them on social media, aims to broaden students' voluntary interest and sense of shared understanding.

In his congratulatory remarks, Chungbuk Superintendent of Education Yoon Gun-young emphasized that methods for caring for one's mental health must also be continuously learned and practiced, stressing that carefully observing signals sent by oneself and one's surroundings is paramount. He further stated that he would establish a comprehensive mental health safety net where children can seek help in any difficulties, ensuring that this campaign and the "Interest x Expression 365" project become firmly established in daily life.
