제천시는 지난 11일 제천시종합자원봉사센터에서 열린 제2기 제천여성아카데미 지역인사 초청강연에서 여성친화도시 제천의 현재와 미래를 주제로 특강을 개최했다. 제천시여성단체협의회가 주관한 이번 특강에서는 여성친화도시 정책의 본질적 의미와 민선 9기 시정 비전을 연계한 시의 발전 청사진이 제시됐다.
이날 강연에서 제천시는 여성친화도시가 단순히 특정 성만을 위한 지원책이 아니라 여성과 아동, 청소년, 노인 등 사회 구성원 모두가 안전하고 편리한 환경 속에서 주체적으로 사회에 참여하는 도시를 조성하는 과정임을 명확히 했다. 아울러 사람이 중심이 되고 문화와 경제가 동반 성장하는 지속 가능한 발전 전략을 설명했다.
