Okcheon Office of Education Operates ‘2026 Visiting Special Education Career and Vocational Program’ for Special Classes

The Special Education Support Center of the Okcheon Office of Education officially began operating the ‘2026 Career and Vocational Program’ for students with special educational needs in middle and high schools within its jurisdiction, starting with Okcheon Middle School on April 22.

This program was designed to foster confidence and a sense of challenge among students with disabilities by helping them form basic vocational attitudes and providing opportunities for career exploration.

The career and vocational program will run for approximately three months until July 14, operating flexibly to align with each school's academic schedule. External professional instructors will visit each school's special class in person to conduct practice-oriented training. The main programs consist of the ‘Planterior Class,’ which helps improve emotional stability and fine motor skills through plant-based activities, and the ‘Pairing Cooking Class,’ where students integrate taste and senses and experience the joy of cooking by making desserts and beverages themselves. It is expected that these diverse experiences will help students discover their aptitudes and interests, and contribute to enhancing their capacity to explore their career paths independently.

In addition, plans are in place to create an educational environment that prioritizes safety by sharing students' developmental levels and specific details, such as allergies, through prior consultation.

A special education teacher who participated in the class stated, “Thanks to professional instructors visiting the school in person, students are highly satisfied as they can engage in high-quality career experiences in a familiar and stable environment.”

Superintendent Park Jung-ae stated, “I hope that through this customized program, students with special educational needs will discover their aptitudes and form a vision for their future career choices,” adding, “We will continue to expand customized support that reflects the characteristics of students and the needs of the school environment.”
