[Break News Gyeonggi South = Reporter Lee Hyun-jun, Osan] In response to the rising obesity rate among the younger generation, the Osan City Public Health Center is launching "WalkGO, LoseGO," a walking-based obesity improvement program for citizens aged 20 to 50 with a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 25 kg/m² or higher.
This program will run for eight weeks from May 4 to June 26 and is designed to help improve citizens' health through the practice of exercise in their daily lives.
Participants are limited to 50 citizens aged 20 to 59 residing in Osan City who meet the obesity criteria. Selected participants will receive pre- and post-program physical measurements by professional staff at the Public Health Center, as well as personalized one-on-one health counseling. In addition to in-person walking training, the program will provide support for continuous management by combining non-face-to-face health challenge services using the mobile app "WalkOn."
In particular, depending on obesity risk factors, the program plans to facilitate integrated health management by linking participants with specialized programs both inside and outside the Public Health Center, such as the Mental Health Welfare Center or cardiovascular prevention projects.
Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis from April 27 to 30. Applicants can submit their application via the QR code provided in the promotional material. However, applicants must be able to visit the public health center twice for checkups before and after the program.
