2026 K-ICT WEEK in BUSAN’

=Three-day event to feature humanoid and companion robots, generative AI and interactive programs

Busan will hold its first artificial intelligence festival this week, giving residents an opportunity to see, touch and experience AI technologies used in everyday life.

The 2026 Busan AI Festival will take place from Sept. 9 to 11 at BEXCO Exhibition Center 1 in Busan. The event will be held in conjunction with K-ICT WEEK in BUSAN 2026, the region’s largest comprehensive information and communications technology event.

The festival is designed to complement the industry-focused exhibitions and business consultations at K-ICT WEEK with programs that allow the general public to experience AI through hands-on activities.

Admission is free, and visitors of all ages can participate without restrictions. Some programs are available for advance registration through the festival’s website.

The festival is being organized as part of a pilot program under the government’s education development initiative, in cooperation with the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education.

Busan officials said the event was created to help narrow the gap in access to AI education and industry opportunities between the capital region and other parts of South Korea while providing a foundation for developing future talent.

As AI technology increasingly expands beyond industrial applications into everyday life, the festival will offer students and residents opportunities to become familiar with the technology through interactive programs.

One of the main attractions will be an AI and robotics experience zone operated by the Korea Electronics Technology Institute, where visitors can control humanoid robots and companion robots.

An AI technology experience zone will showcase practical technologies such as AI smart glasses, allowing visitors to explore how AI can be incorporated into daily activities.

The festival will also feature an AI Art and Physical Zone, where participants can use AI in creative activities. An augmented reality dodgeball program will offer visitors a chance to experience an interactive, technology-based sport.

At the Busan Tourism Coin Tour, participants will complete missions using autonomous robots after taking part in coding activities, combining entertainment with hands-on exposure to AI technology.

The festival will also host an AI Quiz Golden Bell competition covering AI knowledge, ethics and public policy.

The Busan AI Content Competition awards ceremony will be held during the festival, with winning entries displayed throughout the event.

Busan officials said the festival is intended to make AI more accessible to residents and establish the city as a place where people can experience and use artific
