[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 김민석 국무총리가 경남 남해군을 찾아 농어촌 기본소득 시범사업 운영 현황을 점검하고 지역경제 활성화 효과를 확인했다.
경상남도는 12일 김민석 총리가 남해군을 방문해 농어촌 기본소득 시범사업 현장을 둘러보고 주민과 소상공인들의 의견을 청취했다고 밝혔다.
이번 방문은 농어촌 기본소득이 지역 내 소비 촉진과 공동체 회복에 미치는 영향을 직접 살펴보고 향후 정책 확대 가능성을 검토하기 위해 마련됐다.
이날 현장에는 김종구 농림축산식품부 차관, 김명주 경남도 경제부지사, 장충남 남해군수 등이 함께 참석했다.
김 총리는 남해읍 어울림문화센터를 시작으로 기본소득 활용 우수사례로 꼽히는 정육점, 사진관, 지역 상점 등을 방문해 기본소득 사용 실태와 지역경제 순환 효과를 점검했다.
또 주민들과 간담회를 갖고 기본소득 사용 경험과 체감 효과, 제도 운영 과정의 개선 필요 사항 등을 청취했다.
주민들은 기본소득이 지역 내 소비를 늘리고 소상공인 매출 증대와 공동체 활성화에 도움이 되고 있다며 사업의 지속 추진 필요성을 건의한 것으로 알려졌다.
김 총리는 현장에서 농어촌 기본소득이 단순 지원을 넘어 지역경제에 활력을 불어넣는 선순환 구조로 발전할 수 있도록 제도적 보완이 필요하다는 취지의 의견을 밝힌 것으로 전해졌다.
경남도는 이번 총리 방문을 계기로 농어촌 기본소득이 지방소멸 대응 정책으로 자리 잡을 수 있도록 정부와 협력을 강화할 방침이다.
