[Break News Gyeonggi South = Suwon Reporter Lee Hyun-jun] The Gyeonggi Provincial Special Judicial Police will conduct an intensive crackdown on illegal beauty salons operating via social media from June 1 to June 12.
This measure is being pursued in response to the rampant illegal business practices of unregistered beauty salons that evade the law by operating on a reservation basis via social media platforms such as Instagram and KakaoStory.
The targets of the crackdown are 80 beauty salons located in eight cities and counties within the province, including Suwon, Hwaseong, Bucheon, Gimpo, Goyang, Paju, Pyeongtaek, and Anseong. The main targets of the crackdown include operating a beauty business without reporting to the competent authority, operating or working without a beautician's license, performing unlicensed medical procedures such as eyebrow tattooing, and failing to report changes to the beauty business license.
According to the current Public Health Management Act, operating an unregistered beauty business is punishable by imprisonment of up to one year or a fine of up to 10 million won, while operating or working without a beautician's license is subject to a fine of up to 3 million won. In particular, performing medical procedures such as eyebrow tattooing without a medical license is subject to severe punishment under the Medical Service Act, including imprisonment for up to five years or a fine of up to 50 million won.
The city plans to strictly punish violations that endanger the safety of residents in accordance with relevant laws. Gyeonggi Province is constantly accepting reports from residents regarding illegal activities through its website, call center, and KakaoTalk channel.
