[브레이크뉴스경기남부=화성 이현준기자] 화성특례시는 한국관광공사가 주관하는 2026 빅데이터와 함께하는 똑똑한 컨설팅(빅똑컨) 공모사업에서 매향리평화기념관의 '평화를 걷다: 공군폭격장에서 철새의 섬으로' 사업이 실증사업 부문에 최종 선정됐다고 밝혔다.
이번 사업은 관광 빅데이터 분석을 바탕으로 지역 맞춤형 관광 전략을 제시하고 이를 실제 콘텐츠로 고도화하는 프로젝트다.
매향리는 과거 미공군 폭격훈련장이었으나 폐쇄 이후 생태계가 회복되며 철새가 돌아오는 평화의 공간으로 변모한 곳이다. 매향리평화기념관은 이러한 역사를 바탕으로 생태교육, 사운드워킹, 싱잉볼 등 오감을 활용한 체험 프로그램을 운영하며 방문객들에게 평화의 가치를 전달해 왔다.
이번 실증사업을 통해 시는 기존 프로그램을 강화하고 관광객 체류와 지역 주민 참여를 확대할 계획이다. 특히 한국관광공사와 협업해 쿠니사격장 폐쇄의 날을 기념하는 연례행사를 새롭게 기획하여 폭격의 기억을 평화의 시간으로 전환하는 상징적인 콘텐츠를 선보일 예정이다.
