A total of 184 proposals were received for the ‘Idea Contest for Balanced National Development and Guarantee of Housing Rights’ organized by the Korea Real Estate Institute.

The Korea Real Estate Institute announced on the 11th that this figure was tallied following the contest, which ran from April 13 to May 8.

This contest was organized to address the issues of regional disparities in housing, employment, and infrastructure, as well as the imbalance in real estate assets, which are intensifying due to the concentration of resources in the Seoul metropolitan area.

The contest focused on discovering practical policy ideas for establishing growth hubs based on future cities and guaranteeing universal housing rights.

The Korea Real Estate Institute plans to select a total of 16 proposals in the first round after reviewing the 184 submitted proposals. The results of the first round of screening will be announced on the 22nd via the website of the Korea Real Estate Institute’s Real Estate Research Center.

Public participation evaluations will also be reflected in the final screening. The Korea Real Estate Institute plans to conduct a public participation review via the government innovation platform Sotong 24 from May 25 to June 3 and incorporate the results into the final evaluation.

A total of eight final winners will be selected, including one Grand Prize winner and one Top Excellence Prize winner.

Director Lee Heon-wook stated, "The high level of interest in this contest demonstrates the public consensus and demand for change regarding the resolution of land imbalance and housing issues," adding, "We will strive to ensure that creative and effective proposals lead to actual policies."
