충주시는 공모에 신청한 관내 대학생들을 대상으로 심사위원단 심사를 거쳐 지난 14일 최종 6명을 선발, 1인당 250만 원씩 총 1,500만 원의 장학금을 전달했다고 밝혔다.
이번 지원사업은 지난 2024년 대성실업이 기탁한 성금을 바탕으로 운영됐다. 이로써 지난 2024년부터 2026년까지 3년 동안 총 20명의 대학생이 5,000만 원에 달하는 장학 혜택을 받아 학업을 이어나갈 수 있게 됐다.
김영숙 대성실업 대표는 어려운 환경에 있는 학생들이 경제적 부담을 덜고 학업과 대학 생활에 전념해 지역의 핵심 인재로 자라나길 바란다고 밝혔다.
이동석 충주시장 역시 소중한 장학금을 후원해 준 대성실업에 감사의 뜻을 전하며, 장학생들이 사회를 이끌어갈 훌륭한 인재로 성장해주기를 당부했다.
