Chungju City Launches Joint Public-Private Campaign to Establish Mature Pet Etiquette

Chungju City has actively launched on-site campaigns to resolve conflicts between pet owners and non-pet owners arising from the recent increase in the pet-owning population, and to establish a proper pet etiquette culture.

Chungju has been conducting continuous educational activities to spread a proper pet culture, such as collecting pet waste and trash in conjunction with administrative welfare centers, centered on apartment complexes with a high concentration of pet owners.

In this regard, Chungju conducted a large-scale dog etiquette campaign on major walking trails within the city in collaboration with local community groups in Hoam-dong. Approximately 100 members from local community organizations participated in this campaign, including the Hoam-dong Residents' Autonomy Committee, the Saemaul Leaders Association, the Community Social Security Council, the Hyangginuri Volunteer Corps, and the Neighborhood Heads Association.

Participants toured parks and walking trails near Hoam-dong, carrying out environmental cleanup activities by personally collecting abandoned pet waste. Along with this, basic etiquette that pet owners must observe, such as wearing a leash during walks and carrying poop bags, was promoted to citizens. In particular, the tour focused intensively on areas where complaints regarding uncollected pet waste were frequently received, garnering a positive response from local residents.

An official from Chungju City stated that thanks to the voluntary and active participation of residents, a meaningful opportunity was created to foster a mature pet culture. The official added that the city will continue promotional activities to prevent conflicts between neighbors and create a considerate residential environment.
