Chungcheongbuk-do Office of Education Conducts Joint School Safety Inspection for Q2 2026... Eliminating Safety Blind Spots

The Chungcheongbuk-do Office of Education has launched a large-scale on-site inspection to thoroughly examine the safety status of educational facilities within the province and to establish a culture of continuous safety prevention. Following its own implementation plan, the Office activated a joint departmental inspection team centered on the Physical Education, Health, and Safety Division and conducted a comprehensive joint inspection of school safety for the second quarter, targeting elementary, middle, and high schools in the province.

This inspection was conducted by carrying out a comprehensive on-site investigation targeting schools selected based on a comprehensive reflection of facility deterioration, safety accident risks, and actual on-site needs. The inspection team closely examined safety management conditions on school routes used daily by students, as well as the operational status of air purifiers to respond to high concentrations of fine dust and dormitory fire prevention systems. In addition, a thorough investigation was conducted covering a total of seven areas, including safety management at construction sites inside and outside schools, the condition of school facilities, and the management of school bus operations, as well as the status of industrial safety management for employees in field operations such as meal preparation and facility management.

As a result of the inspection, minor issues found on-site were addressed immediately to quickly eliminate risk factors. However, for matters involving large budgets or requiring precise remedial work, it was decided to develop long-term and phased improvement measures through close consultation with relevant departments at the Office of Education and the main office. Along with this, each Office of Education within the province plans to independently conduct quarterly joint inspections tailored to regional characteristics and school-specific conditions, thereby maintaining a field-oriented safety network at all times.

Kim Yong-in, Head of the Physical Education, Health, and Safety Division at the Provincial Office of Education, defined school safety as the most fundamental and essential educational environment that guarantees the healthy growth of children. He emphasized that they will move beyond perfunctory investigations and continue thorough, prevention-oriented on-site inspections to create a school environment where both students and staff can stay with peace of mind. Meanwhile, following the successful completion of self-inspections of all schools in February in preparation for the new semester, the Chungbuk Office of Education plans to maintain a seamless school safety system throughout the year by continuing comprehensive joint inspections in the third and fourth quarters of the second half of the year without interruption, even after the inspections in the second quarter.
