Participation of Schools, Parents, and Local Groups… Intensive Promotion of ‘Stop, Look, Walk’ Pedestrian Rules

Educational institutions within the Changwon Education Complex and the local community have launched a joint traffic safety campaign to create a safe commuting environment for students.

On the 12th, representatives from institutions belonging to the ‘Changwon Education Complex Roundabout Council,’ including Changwon Naedong Elementary School, as well as students, parents, the Green Mothers Association, and the Model Taxi Association, conducted a traffic safety campaign for school commutes throughout the education complex.

Ten educational and cultural institutions participated in this campaign, including Changwon Forest Kindergarten, Changwon Naedong Elementary School, Yongji Elementary School, Gyeongwon Middle School, Changwon Girls’ High School, Changwon Gyeongil High School, Changwon Gyeongil Girls’ High School, Changwon Mechanical High School, Korea Polytechnic University VII, and Changwon Library. Participants promoted safety guidelines to students and drivers using placards displaying traffic safety slogans along major school routes and around crosswalks, and also distributed promotional materials.

In particular, they focused on practical traffic safety measures centered on the "Three Principles of Crosswalk Walking: Stop, Look, and Walk," such as refraining from using smartphones while walking, driving slowly and coming to a temporary stop within school zones, and eradicating illegal parking and stopping.

This event was organized to encourage safe passage for vehicles entering the educational complex and to enhance pedestrian safety for students.

The "Changwon Educational Complex Roundabout Council" is a network formed to foster cooperation and resource sharing among institutions within the complex, striving to revitalize the local educational community through joint projects and information exchange.

A council official stated, "We plan to continue various joint activities in the fields of traffic safety and daily life safety to create an environment where students can attend school with peace of mind."
