Jincheon County Issues Warning on Ride-on Rice Transplanter Accidents During Planting Season… "Safety Comes First, Even When Busy"
With the start of the full-scale rice planting season and the increased use of ride-on rice transplanters, the Jincheon County Agricultural Technology Center has urged farmers to exercise caution to prevent agricultural machinery accidents. While ride-on transplanters are essential equipment for improving planting efficiency, their high center of gravity and the difficulty of navigating narrow farm roads and paddy dikes pose a significant risk of major accidents, such as rollovers or falls.
The likelihood of accidents is particularly high during the busy farming season, as farmers often rush their work or operate machinery while fatigued due to labor shortages and hectic schedules. Accordingly, the county is strongly recommending adherence to key safety rules, including making pre-operation inspections a daily habit to check for any abnormalities, driving slowly on narrow roads, and refraining from operating the equipment after drinking alcohol.
Nam Ki-soon, Director of the Jincheon County Agricultural Technology Center, emphasized that it is of paramount importance to ensure that the rice planting season, the beginning of the year's farming, is completed safely and without accidents. In addition, he repeatedly urged farmers to thoroughly familiarize themselves with safety guidelines and approach their work with a calm mind, no matter how busy the farming season may be.
