Jeungpyeong County to Operate ‘Traveling Science Museum’ Starting the 16th, Combining AI/Digital Experiences with Solar Observation
Jeungpyeong County, in partnership with the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Science Museum Association, will launch the ‘2026 Traveling Science Museum’ at Yulli Recreation Village for five days, from the 16th to the 20th, to bridge the gap in science culture between regions and provide residents with diverse science experiences.
This event was planned to easily convey scientific principles found in daily life to local residents and youth who find it relatively difficult to access science museums, and to stimulate their curiosity about future technologies.
The venue will feature a diverse range of programs, including 52 types of interactive exhibits, artificial intelligence and digital experiences, science experiments, astronomical observation, and science performances. Visitors can personally interact with the exhibits to experience scientific principles found in textbooks firsthand, such as density, electromagnetic induction, atmospheric pressure, and the refraction of light.
** In addition, ICT digital content experiences utilizing the mobile science vehicle "Cywheel" and hands-on science workshops involving making and operating devices will be offered, while solar observation programs using astronomical telescopes will be conducted outdoors. In particular, on the weekend of the 19th and 20th, a science magic show will be held to explain scientific principles through magic, providing a rich array of entertainment for children and family visitors. Professional staff will be stationed on-site throughout the event to assist with exhibit explanations and support for hands-on activities.
An official from Jeungpyeong-gun, who organized the event on-site, stated that this will be a meaningful opportunity to experience diverse cutting-edge science content firsthand in a nearby location without having to travel far. They expressed hope that many residents will visit with their families to experience the joy of science and nurture their dreams for the future.
Meanwhile, this event is entirely free of charge, and residents wishing to participate can make a reservation in advance through the Jwagusan Astronomical Observatory's Naver reservation system.
