South Jeolla Province “Relieves Farmers’ Worries”: Support for Tax-Exempt Agricultural Fuel Purchase Costs… Applications Accepted Until End of October
Securing National Funding Through Nationwide First-Ever Proposal to the Government, Compensating Up to 154 Won Per Liter for Fuel Difference – Covers Tractors, Tillers, Combines, and Greenhouses… Expanding Substantial Benefits Through Retroactive Application
(Muan = Break News) Reporter Lee Hak-su = South Jeolla Province urged farmers to expedite their applications for the ‘Support Project for Tax-Exempt Agricultural Fuel Purchase Costs,’ which was included in the government’s supplementary budget, in order to alleviate the financial burden on farms caused by high fuel prices.
The target recipients of this support project are agricultural businesses that have been issued a tax-exempt agricultural fuel purchase card. Specifically, eligible items include three major types of agricultural machinery—tractors, tillers, and combines—and greenhouses.
Supported fuel types include diesel used in agricultural machinery, as well as kerosene, heavy oil, and LPG used for heating in facility cultivation. The support period covers tax-exempt fuel used for three types of agricultural machinery from March to September of this year, while benefits are provided for greenhouses during March, April, and September.
The support amount covers up to 70% of the difference between the monthly average price and the standard price for each fuel type when purchasing tax-exempt fuel during the specified period. The maximum support limits per liter based on state subsidies are 138.4 won for diesel, 143.9 won for kerosene, and 154.8 won for heating LPG.
Applications for the program must be submitted by October 31st by visiting an Agricultural or Livestock Cooperative within the tax-exempt fuel management area in person, bringing your identification card.
A key feature of this support is that it allows for retroactive reimbursement for purchases made prior to the application. Once the subsidy is finalized, it will be directly deposited into the recipient's tax-exempt fuel purchase card account.
Jeonnam Province has been making proactive efforts, including being the first in the nation to propose government-level measures to stabilize tax-exempt fuel prices, as it determined that rising oil prices due to the prolonged crisis in the Middle East would deal a direct blow to farm management.
Jeong Won-jin, Head of the Food and Horticulture Division at Jeonnam Province, stated, "Since this budget was secured through Jeonnam Province's proactive proposal, it is crucial that all eligible farmers in the province benefit." He repeatedly urged farmers to "please remember to complete the application when visiting agricultural and livestock cooperatives for business, as failure to apply within the deadline will result in exclusion from support."
Jeonnam Province plans to continue monitoring trends in international oil and raw material prices to take the lead in devising practical policies that can share the burden of farmers suffering from rising agricultural operating costs.
