Gwangju Metropolitan City Gwangju Autonomous Police Commission Recruits 112 Members for ‘11th Youth Supporters 112’

Applications accepted from the 10th to the 23rd… Role as a channel for policy promotion and communication utilizing social media - Targeting youth aged 19 to 39 residing or studying in the region… Applications accepted via online Naver Form

(Break News Jeonnam Gwangju) Reporter Lee Hak-su = The Gwangju Autonomous Police Commission of the Integrated Gwangju Metropolitan City is publicly recruiting 112 activists for the ‘11th Youth Supporters 112’ until the 23rd to implement a citizen-tailored autonomous police system based on the creative perspectives of local youth.

‘Youth Supporters 112’ is a representative youth-participatory policy program that was planned and introduced by the Gwangju Autonomous Police Commission in 2021, the first of its kind in the nation. This program, which adds symbolic significance by aligning the recruitment quota with the police emergency number ‘112,’ has played a pivotal role in promoting the Autonomous Police’s key policies and community-oriented policing measures by having young people—the future generation—actively utilize various social networking service (SNS) channels, such as blogs, Instagram, and YouTube. Furthermore, it contributes significantly to enhancing the effectiveness of public security administration by serving as a bridge for citizen communication that conveys voices from the field to the Committee.

The recruitment for the 11th Supporters is open to young adults aged 19 to 39 (born between August 9, 1986, and August 10, 2007) who actively operate personal SNS accounts. Anyone is eligible to apply if, as of the announcement date, they are a resident with a registered address in one of the five autonomous districts (Dong-gu, Seo-gu, Nam-gu, Buk-gu, and Gwangsan-gu) within the Gwangju region of the Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City, or if they are currently enrolled or on leave of absence at a university or graduate school located in Gwangju.

The selected youth supporters will engage in diverse promotional activities during their designated activity period following their appointment, including producing content related to the autonomous police, covering key public safety policies on-site, and participating in crime prevention campaigns. Various benefits, such as a stipend and commendations for outstanding performers, will also be provided based on their performance.

Young people wishing to participate can easily apply by submitting an online Naver Form, following the instructions in the recruitment notice posted in the ‘Notices and Announcements’ section of the official website of the Integrated Gwangju Metropolitan City.

Ahn Jin, Chairman of the Gwangju Autonomous Police Commission, stated, “The ‘Youth Supporters 112’ have served as an important catalyst for adding fresh ideas from youth to public safety administration and dramatically increasing the understanding and participation of the local youth in the autonomous police system.” He added, “I hope that through the active interest and participation of passionate young people who will help shape the local public safety environment, the autonomous police will become more familiar and deeply integrated into the daily lives of citizens.”
