Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City Makes Bold Move to Attract Anchor Companies with ‘Digital Sales’
TF Meeting Presided Over by Vice Governor Kang Wi-won… Accelerating Production of ‘Digital Brochures’ Highlighting Strengths such as Energy and Manpower; “Location Verification Possible Without Site Visits”; All-out Effort to Provide Customized ‘Immediate Investment’ Information
(Muan = Break News) Reporter Lee Hak-su = Jeollanam-do has embarked on a wide-ranging effort to attract anchor companies (key hub companies) to secure future growth engines for the ‘Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City,’ which is set to launch this coming July.
In particular, the province plans to shift the paradigm of investment attraction by establishing a sophisticated ‘digital investment platform’ capable of enabling companies to make investment decisions without visiting the site in person.
On the 13th, Jeollanam-do held the 5th meeting of the ‘Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City Corporate Attraction Special Task Force (TF)’ at the Jeong Yak-yong Room of the Provincial Office, presided over by Vice Governor for Economic Affairs Kang Wi-won. This meeting was organized to further refine strategies for attracting key anchor companies in line with the launch of the Integrated Special City, and to review innovative tools for promoting a business-friendly investment environment.
The central topic of the meeting was undoubtedly the direction for producing a "digital investment brochure." Jeonnam Province plans to move beyond fragmentary promotional materials and introduce a brochure in the form of a digital platform that integrates the vast amount of data companies require during the investment review stage.
The brochure will comprehensively cover the Integrated Special City's overwhelming competitive advantages, including hardware strengths such as large-scale available land, an abundant renewable energy (RE100) base, and power and water supply networks, as well as software infrastructure information such as workforce supply systems linked to universities and specialized high schools and living conditions.
In particular, the plan is to provide specialized information for future high-tech industries such as AI (Artificial Intelligence), semiconductors, and energy, enabling companies to compare and review candidate sites optimized for their specific sectors. This is expected to serve as a "one-stop investment guide," enabling corporate officials to intuitively grasp the status of industrial complexes and location conditions without having to visit the sites in person.
Presided over by Vice Governor for Economic Affairs Kang Wi-won, the meeting was attended by the Director of the Strategic Industries Bureau and eight other relevant bureau directors, who closely reviewed the progress of attracting investment from major anchor companies currently underway.
Jeonnam Province plans to further strengthen its investment attraction activities targeting companies in the Seoul metropolitan area and global firms by utilizing digital brochures to be produced in the future. The strategy is to move beyond mere regional promotion and expand "pinpoint investment proposals" tailored to individual companies' interests and requirements, ultimately leading to the signing of actual contracts.
During the meeting, Vice Governor Kang Wi-won emphasized, "For successful corporate attraction, it must be supported by highly reliable data that allows companies to be confident in the investment value, rather than one-sided promotion." He urged, "We must present the strengths of the Integrated Special City, such as its renewable energy infrastructure and specialized workforce, in the most persuasive way from the corporate perspective." In addition, Vice Governor Kang stated, “Only when anchor companies are established do related partner companies gather, creating a virtuous cycle in the regional economy,” and ordered that “administrative efforts be concentrated on enhancing the completeness of the digital brochure to intuitively convey the appeal of the integrated special city.”
Based on the discussions at this TF meeting, Jeonnam Province plans to promptly finalize the digital brochure and launch an aggressive global investment attraction campaign simultaneously with the launch of the integrated special city.
