(무안=브레이크뉴스) 이학수 기자=전남개발공사 노동조합이 노동조합 설립 19주년을 맞아 의미 있는 역사·인권 교육의 장을 마련했다.
전남개발공사 노조는 지난 27일 개최한 ‘조합의 날’ 행사에서 5·18 민주화운동의 정신을 계승하고 올바른 역사 인식을 확산하기 위해 조합원들을 대상으로 ‘민주·인권 가치 교육’을 실시했다고 밝혔다.
노동조합 측은 “광주·전남 지역은 5·18 민주화운동의 역사적 의미를 계승하며 민주주의 가치를 지켜온 중심지”라며 “지역 공기업 구성원으로서 민주·인권·공동체의 숭고한 가치를 올바르게 이해하고 사회적 책임을 다하기 위해 이번 자리를 마련했다”고 취지를 설명했다.
특히 최근 불거지고 있는 일상 속 역사 폄훼 논란에 대해 목소리를 높였다. 노조는 “최근 일상 속 소비문화나 기업 마케팅 과정에서 역사적 비극을 가볍게 다루거나 폄훼하는 논란들이 발생해 안타깝다”며 “이러한 시기일수록 우리 사회가 지켜온 소중한 자산인 5·18 정신과 민주주의 가치를 왜곡 없이 올바르게 기억하는 자세가 필요하다”고 강조했다.
이에 따라 노동조합은 이번 교육에 그치지 않고, 조합원들과 함께 일상 속에서 사회적 가치를 실천하는 한편 올바른 역사 인식 확산을 위한 자율적 캠페인을 지속적으로 전개해 나갈 계획이다.
노병구 노동조합 위원장은 “5·18 정신은 특정 지역을 넘어 대한민국 민주주의의 뿌리가 된 소중한 가치”라며 “전남 유일의 지방공기업 노동조합으로서 사회적 가치와 공동체 의식을 지키고, 올바른 역사관을 정립하는 데 앞장서겠다”고 포부를 밝혔다.
