인천국제공항공사가 전체 주차면수의 84%에 달하는 정기주차권을 직원들에게 발급한데 대해 공식 사과했다.
공사는 15일 입장문을 통해 "주차장 운영과 관련해 정기권 관리 소홀로 국민 불편을 초래한 점에 대해 책임을 통감한다. 부실했던 업무체계 전반을 원점 재검토하고 정기권 관리체계를 혁신하는 계기로 삼겠다"라고 밝혔다.
앞서 국토교통부는 인천공항공사와 자회사의 주차장 운영 실태를 감사한 결과, 직원들의 부정 사용 정황과 다수의 부당 운영 사례를 확인했다고 발표했다.
감사 결과 공사 및 자회사 직원들에게 발급된 유·무료 정기주차권은 총 3만1265건으로, 인천공항 전체 주차면수 3만6971면의 84.5%에 달했다.
공사는 공항 인근 청사에 직원주차장을 보유하고 있음에도 불구하고 이용객이 이용하는 주차장에 무료 주차권을 대거 발급해 '단기주차장'은 늘 만차 상태였다.
또 출퇴근 용도로만 사용해야 하는 무료 주차권이 개인 휴가와 연가 기간 사적 용도로 활용된 사례도 적발됐다.
이에 대해 공사는 "국토부 감사 결과에서 지적된 미비점을 검토·개선해 국민 눈높이에 맞는 서비스를 제공할 수 있도록 하겠다"고 말했다.

The audit revealed that a total of 31,265 paid and free monthly parking passes were issued to employees of the Corporation and its subsidiaries, amounting to 84.5% of the 36,971 total parking spaces at Incheon Airport.
Despite possessing employee parking lots at its office buildings near the airport, the Corporation issued a large number of free passes to parking lots used by passengers, resulting in the "short-term parking lot" being constantly full. In addition, cases were uncovered where free parking passes, which are supposed to be used only for commuting, were utilized for private purposes during personal vacations and annual leave.
In response, the Corporation stated, "We will review and improve the shortcomings pointed out in the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's audit results to provide services that meet the public's expectations."
