이번 간담회는 양 기관이 추진 중인 핵심 정책 현안과 상호 제안 사항을 정밀하게 검토하고, 인프라와 전문성을 연계해 지역과 대학이 함께 성장하는 선순환 구조를 구축하기 위해 마련됐다.
이날 회의에서는 충북도립대학교가 제안한 2027학년도 묘목스마트팜학과 및 정지용문화콘텐츠학과 신설에 따른 협력안을 비롯해 구 학생생활관 활용, 일반직 공무원 파견, 기업체 주문식 교육과정 운영, 대학생 공직체험단 운영 등에 대해 옥천군 측의 검토 결과를 공유하고 향후 구체적인 추진 방향을 논의했다.
아울러 옥천군 역시 대학의 인프라를 지역 산업으로 확장하기 위한 정책 과제를 역으로 제시했다. 군은 과수 무병화 인증기관 운영과 창업농사관학교 관리위탁 방안을 상정해 대학이 보유한 교육·연구 역량을 지역 묘목 산업 발전과 청년 창업농 육성, 지역 정착 지원으로 연계하는 실질적 협력 가능성을 점검했다.
옥천군 황규철 군수는 인터뷰를 통해 "지역과 대학이 각자 보유한 자원과 전문성을 유기적으로 연계하는 것이 지역 전체의 경쟁력을 강화하는 핵심"이라며 "이번 간담회에서 논의된 협력 과제들을 바탕으로 지속적인 실무 협의를 이어가고, 실행 가능한 사업부터 차근차근 구체화해 나가겠다"고 강조했다.
