“Connecting everything from bio collaboration to investment”… Gangwon Innovation Center recruiting open innovation participants

The Gangwon Center for Creative Economy Innovation has begun recruiting participants for an open innovation program aimed at discovering promising startups in the bio and healthcare sectors. A key feature of the program is its structure, which goes beyond simple company selection to verify actual commercialization potential through collaboration with client organizations.

This program is jointly organized by Hallym University Technology Holdings and J&P MediPartners and focuses on connecting technologically advanced startups so that their capabilities can be immediately utilized in the industrial field. While existing support programs have centered on education or networking, this program is differentiated by its **execution-oriented structure** that leads to demonstration and commercialization.

Hospital-Corporate Collaboration… “Field Application-Centered Structure”

Participating organizations include Jetema, Bodytechmed, JNP Medi, Hallym University Chuncheon Sacred Heart Hospital, and medical and bio research institutes. The fields of collaboration are also expanding to include aesthetic procedures, in vitro diagnostics, alternative animal testing, and smart hospital infrastructure; moving beyond simple technology verification, the focus is on the applicability in actual medical and industrial environments.

The recruitment targets startups established within the last 10 years with annual sales of 2 billion won or less, and applications are open to all regardless of location. This is interpreted as a strategic approach to connect nationwide technology with the Gangwon regional industry, going beyond the nurturing of companies in specific regions.

Selected companies are provided with matching and collaboration opportunities with demand agencies, as well as project funding of up to 10 million won. In particular, companies requiring demonstration are provided with an environment to secure data in the actual field, enhancing the realism of technology verification.

Here, as the lead organization's investment review is linked with the Gangwon Innovation Center's incubation program, a structure is established that leads from demonstration to investment to growth, rather than one-off support.

The Gangwon Innovation Center has recently been expanding its investment base through the formation of investment partnerships and the selection of the Bio-Healthcare Fund of Funds. This program is also expected to go beyond simple open innovation and serve as a connecting link to strengthen the regional bio-industry ecosystem.
