2016년 설립된 레티널은 AI 스마트글래스 핵심 부품인 광학 모듈을 자체 설계·개발·제조하는 기업이다. 회사는 독자 광학 기술인 ‘PinTILT™’와 ‘PinMR™’을 기반으로 기존 광학 구조 대비 경량화·고효율·양산성을 동시에 구현했다고 설명했다.
특히 플라스틱 사출 기반 렌즈 구조를 적용해 원가 경쟁력까지 확보한 점이 특징이다. 이러한 기술력을 바탕으로 레티널은 지난해 IR52 장영실상을 수상했으며, 최근에는 신용보증기금의 스케일업 프로그램 ‘혁신아이콘’에도 선정됐다.

회사는 이번 투자금을 AI 글래스용 광학 모듈 연구개발(R&D) 고도화와 생산 확대, 글로벌 고객사 확보에 집중 투입할 계획이다. 중국·미국·유럽 시장 공략에도 속도를 낼 방침이다.

Retinal, established in 2016, is a company that designs, develops, and manufactures optical modules, which are core components of AI smart glasses. The company explained that it has achieved lightweight design, high efficiency, and mass producibility compared to existing optical structures based on its proprietary optical technologies, 'PinTILT™' and 'PinMR™'.
In particular, it is characterized by securing cost competitiveness through the application of a plastic injection-molded lens structure. Based on this technological prowess, Retinal won the IR52 Jang Young-sil Award last year and was recently selected for the Korea Credit Guarantee Fund's scale-up program, 'Innovation Icon.'

The company plans to focus the investment on advancing R&D for optical modules for AI glasses, expanding production, and securing global clients. It also intends to accelerate its penetration of the Chinese, U.S., and European markets.
