Naver Opens Special Page for June 3 Local Elections... Providing Region-Specific Election Information
Naver has launched a special election page ahead of the 9th Nationwide Simultaneous Local Elections to be held on June 3.
Naver announced on the 8th that it opened the "9th Nationwide Simultaneous Local Elections Special Page" on the 7th.
The special page provides information such as curated articles by media outlet, election news by region, public opinion polls, major election schedules, and historical voter turnout.
On election day, a "Live" corner will also be operated where users can check live broadcasts of special reports from TV stations, results of the joint exit poll by the three major broadcasters, and prediction survey results from media outlets.
In particular, Naver has also strengthened its comment policy for political and election articles. Comment services are not provided at the bottom of the main body of articles in the politics and election sections, and all comments are displayed only in chronological order.
In addition, if the AI-based detection system "Cleanbot" detects malicious comments, the relevant comments will be automatically disabled. If the number of likes or dislikes surges, a notice will be displayed and comment functions will be restricted.
Naver has introduced a feature allowing users to directly report comments containing false information and plans to operate a 24-hour monitoring system linked with the National Election Commission's reporting channels.
Requests to delete comments related to candidates during the election period will be processed in accordance with the policies of the Korea Internet Self-Regulation Organization (KISO) and relevant laws.
In addition, starting on the 21st, after the candidate registration deadline, candidate information provided by the National Election Commission will be available in search results. Autocomplete and search suggestion functions for the names of candidates for metropolitan and local government heads, superintendents of education, and National Assembly by-elections will be restricted.
