[브레이크뉴스=황민성 기자] 남해군과 일본 아와지시마의 청소년 스포츠 교류가 올해도 이어졌다. 양 지역은 축구를 중심으로 교육·문화 교류를 진행하며 14년째 우호 관계를 이어가고 있다.

남해군은 지난 27일부터 29일까지 2박3일 일정으로 일본 아와지시마 스포츠 교류단을 초청해 청소년 축구 친선경기와 학교 견학 등 교류 행사를 진행했다고 밝혔다.

양 지역 청소년 스포츠 교류는 2008년 시작됐으며, 공식 대회는 2009년 제1회 교류전을 시작으로 이어졌다. 코로나19로 한때 중단됐지만 이후 재개됐으며, 홀수 해에는 남해군이 아와지시마를 방문하고 짝수 해에는 아와지시마가 남해를 찾는 방식으로 상호 방문을 이어가고 있다.

아와지시마 교류단은 27일 남해웰컴센터를 방문한 뒤 환영회에 참석해 남해군 관계자와 체육계 인사, 선수단 등이 상견례를 했다.

28일에는 본격적인 스포츠 교류가 진행됐다. 아와지시마 선수단은 보물섬남해FC 선수들과 오전과 오후에 걸쳐 두 차례 친선경기를 치렀다. 경기 사이에는 이동중학교를 찾아 학교 현황에 대한 설명을 듣고 교육시설을 둘러보는 등 스포츠 외 교육 분야 교류도 진행했다.
