▲ 갯벌 체험으로 알려진 어촌체험휴양마을
[브레이크뉴스=황민성 기자] 남해군 문항어촌체험휴양마을이 해양수산부 주관 ‘어촌체험휴양마을 고도화 사업’ 공모에 선정됐다.
남해군은 15일 문항마을이 전국 18개 신청 마을 가운데 최종 선정된 4개 마을에 포함됐다고 밝혔다. 이번 사업은 외부 전문가가 참여한 서면·현장 평가를 거쳐 대상지를 선정했다.
문항마을은 바닷길이 열리는 이른바 ‘모세의 기적’ 현상과 갯벌 체험으로 알려진 어촌체험휴양마을이다.
바지락과 쏙잡이 체험 등 해양생태 자원을 기반으로 운영돼 왔으며, 해양수산부 어촌체험휴양마을 평가에서 10여 년간 우수 등급을 유지해왔다.
다만 2003년 건립된 안내소와 숙박시설 노후화로 체류형 관광 수요를 충분히 수용하지 못했다는 지적이 있었다.
이번 선정으로 문항마을은 국비 4억원과 지방비 4억원 등 총 8억원의 사업비를 확보했다. 사업비는 지상 2층 규모 안내소 건물 리모델링과 숙박시설 개선에 투입된다.
남해군은 가족 단위 관광객을 위한 객실과 공유 라운지 등을 조성해 워케이션과 장기 체류 관광 수요를 확대할 계획이다.
군은 이번 사업이 방문객 체류 시간 증가와 지역 상권 활성화에도 도움이 될 것으로 기대하고 있다.
장한칠 문항어촌계장은 “주민들의 참여와 협력으로 이룬 성과”라며 “체험과 휴양, 워케이션이 결합된 공간으로 발전시키겠다”고 말했다.
