Gwangju-Jeonnam Democratic Citizens' Alliance for Defending National Sovereignty Directly Criticizes Democratic Party Leader Jeong Cheong-rae... "To File Police Complaint Tomorrow"
Criticism of Leader Jeong's 'Oppa' Remark: "Worst Gender Sensitivity"... Also to File Complaint Against So Byeong-hoon and Poll Firms for Responsibility in Primary Management
(Gwangju = Break News) Reporter Lee Hak-su = The Gwangju-Jeonnam Democratic Citizens' Alliance for Defending National Sovereignty (hereinafter the Alliance) has decided to file a police complaint against Democratic Party Leader Jeong Cheong-rae and party officials on charges including violations of the Public Official Election Act.
On the 5th, the Alliance held a rally marking the "17th Day of Struggle" in front of the Democratic Party's Gwangju City Chapter, strongly criticizing the controversies that arose during the recent internal primary process and the words and actions of Leader Jeong Cheong-rae.
Lee Ju-yeon, Chairperson of External Cooperation at the Alliance, took issue with Leader Jeong's 'Oppa' remark made during his visit to the Gupo Market in Busan. Chairman Lee sharply criticized the situation, stating, "It is not just the primary election management that is a mess; the party leader's gender sensitivity is also at its worst," and calling it "an international disgrace."
Chairman Lee went on to emphasize the democratic history of Gwangju and Jeonnam and urged Representative Jeong to resign. He denounced the leader, saying, "We take pride in having defended our sovereignty through April 19, May 18, the June Struggle, and the Candlelight Revolution," and asked, "Who on earth is Representative Jeong to trample on the sovereignty of the citizens of Gwangju and Jeonnam?" He further argued, "The Democratic Party must oust Representative Jeong to survive, and only then can we protect the future of Honam."
The Citizens' Solidarity plans to visit the Gwangju Metropolitan Police Agency tomorrow (the 6th) to file a complaint alleging obstruction of the freedom of the internal party primary and obstruction of business under the Public Official Election Act. The targets of the complaint include Party Leader Chung Cheong-rae, Central Party Election Commission Chairman So Byung-hoon, and the polling firms T-Bridge Corporation (CEO Park Hae-sung) and Woori Research (CEO Yoo Bong-hwan).
In addition, it was announced that the party plans to file complaints against the central party working-level officials responsible for designing and managing the primary election ARS survey, as well as officials involved in the system inspection and error handling process.
