Launch of Gwangju-Jeonnam Integrated Office of Education Accelerates… Full-scale Coordination for Organization, Personnel, and Finance Integration
Ministry of Education and Both City/Provincial Offices of Education Hold ‘6th Cooperation Meeting’ in Naju; Focus on Minimizing On-site Confusion through Revision of Local Ordinances and Linkage of Educational Administration Information Systems
(Break News Gwangju-Jeonnam) Reporter Lee Hak-su = The Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education and the Jeollanam-do Office of Education are accelerating the review of follow-up tasks in key areas, such as organization, personnel, and finance, to launch the ‘Integrated Office of Education.’
On the 14th, the Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education, the Jeollanam-do Office of Education, and the Ministry of Education held the ‘6th Cooperation Meeting on the Integration of Educational Administration Systems’ at the Naju Career and College Counseling Center and discussed concrete practical measures for the stable launch of the Integrated Office of Education.
At the meeting, the three agencies focused on reviewing the newly established organizational structure to be applied after the launch of the Integrated Office of Education, as well as personnel management standards for teachers and local public officials and the status of preparations for financial integration. In particular, they exchanged in-depth opinions regarding phased reorganization plans to unify autonomous ordinances and administrative procedures related to educational autonomy, which are currently applied differently by city and province.
Above all, both offices of education made minimizing confusion in the educational field their top priority. To this end, they agreed to continue working-level consultations to resolve close-knit issues, such as linking the National Education Information System (NEIS), which is directly connected to the school field.
The Ministry of Education and the two offices of education plan to operate regular cooperation meetings and working-level consultative bodies to jointly monitor the progress of the integration and continuously address institutional shortcomings identified during the launch process. Furthermore, they intend to finalize implementation schedules for each sector before the official launch and complete the reorganization of organization, finance, and regulations in stages.
An official from the office of education stated, "We will continue advanced cooperation across all sectors, including organization, personnel, and finance, to ensure that the integration of the Gwangju and Jeonnam educational administration systems settles stably into the school field."
