[Break News Gyeonggi South = Gwangju Reporter Lee Hyun-jun] Gwangju City successfully concluded the Gwangju Multicultural Harmony Festival, commemorating the 19th International Day of Citizens, at Gonjiam Ceramic Park on the 3rd.

Organized by the Council of Foreign Resident Support Organizations in Gwangju, the event was attended by approximately 2,000 people, including foreign residents and visitors to the Gwangju Royal Ceramic Festival, and served as a venue for citizens with diverse cultural backgrounds to communicate and harmonize.

The festival kicked off with a dynamic celebratory performance by the Gwangju Municipal Gwangjiwon Nongak Troupe. Following this, awards were presented to individuals who contributed to the stable settlement of foreign residents and the integration of the local community, expressing gratitude for their efforts. The main event further heightened the festive atmosphere with a multicultural fashion show showcasing splendid costumes from various countries, colorful band and dance performances, and a talent show where foreign residents personally displayed their skills.

Among the 22 experience booths set up at the venue, the tasting corner, where visitors could directly sample traditional foods from around the world including Sri Lanka, Nepal, Vietnam, Cambodia, the Philippines, and Mongolia, saw a constant stream of visitors. The Gwangju Family Center operated a space for experiencing traditional world clothing and accessories, while simultaneously conducting a campaign to dispel prejudices against multiculturalism and spread positive perceptions.

This event served as an opportunity for citizens to acknowledge diversity and provided children with a chance to learn about the cultures of various countries close to home.
