(광주=브레이크뉴스) 이학수 기자=광주 지역 시민사회단체인 광산시민연대가 민형배 전 의원의 사퇴로 치러지는 광산구을 국회의원 보궐선거와 관련해, 더불어민주당에 ‘새 시대에 걸맞은 전문성 있는 인물’을 공천할 것을 강력히 촉구하고 나섰다.
광산시민연대는 지난 5일 보도자료를 통해 “이번 광산을 보궐선거는 광주와 전남이 통합된 이후 처음으로 실시되는 유일한 국회의원 선거라는 상징성을 지닌다”며 “전남광주통합특별시의 미래를 설계하고 AI 시대를 선도할 지역 발전의 적임자를 공천해야 한다”고 밝혔다.
김기령 수석대표는 광산을 지역구가 지닌 독특한 인구 구조와 정치적 위상을 강조했다. 김 수석대표는 “광산을 지역구는 전국에서 가장 젊은 도시 중 하나이자, 광주·전남의 새로운 ‘정치 1번지’ 역할을 하는 곳”이라며 “유권자들은 선거 결과 자체보다 민주당이 어떤 기준과 과정을 거쳐 인물을 내세우는지 그 ‘공천 과정’을 예의주시하고 있다”고 지적했다.
