Gyeongnam Office of Education Spreads 'Digital Well-being'... Schools and Homes Practice Together

'Log Out of Over-dependence, Log In for Appropriate Use' Slogan... 70 Practical Tasks Distributed to Schools

The Gyeongnam Office of Education is launching a full-scale 'Digital Well-being' education program involving both schools and families to prevent students' over-dependence on digital devices and spread a culture of healthy usage.

On the 16th, the Gyeongnam Office of Education announced that it has established the '2026 Digital Well-being Promotion Plan for Everyone' and is strengthening practice-oriented education to enable students to utilize digital devices for their intended purposes and regulate their own usage habits.

Through a contest held for students, faculty, staff, and parents, the Office of Education selected 'Log Out of Over-dependence, Log In for Appropriate Use!' as its representative slogan. Furthermore, reflecting the contest results, the Office developed and distributed to schools materials including the '70 Practical Tasks for Digital Well-being,' curriculum-linked lesson plans, slogan production materials, newsletters for parents, and promotional posters.

Each school, centered around the student council, will establish practical tasks for each school and class and operate digital well-being education linked to the curriculum. During the summer vacation, plans are in place to encourage the formation of proper digital usage habits at home through the "Making Family Digital Usage Pledges."

The Gyeongnam Office of Education will operate the "Digital Emptying and Resting Week" this coming October and share best practices from each school in November. Subsequently, in December, the office plans to refine and establish the "Gyeongnam-type Digital Well-being Practice Model" based on the results of on-site operations.

Superintendent Kwon Soon-ki stated, "Digital well-being is not about reducing device usage, but about cultivating the capacity to use devices correctly when needed and to regulate oneself," adding, "We will actively support students so that they can grow into healthy digital citizens at both school and at home."
