Samsung Electronics Co. ranked first in smartphone market share across Latin America, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia in the first quarter of 2026, led by strong sales of the Galaxy S26 and A series.
According to market research firm Omdia on Monday, Samsung Electronics captured 37 percent of the Latin American smartphone market in the first quarter, ranking first in the region. This marked its highest quarterly market share since the first quarter of 2023.
The company shipped 12.9 million units, up 9 percent on year.
Omdia noted that demand for premium smartphones priced above $500 remained solid, while Samsung effectively responded to market demand through a broad lineup across multiple price ranges.
In particular, growth in Latin America was driven by expanding sales of the entry-level and mid-range Galaxy A series.
Samsung also ranked first in the Southeast Asian market.
Although it had placed between second and fourth over the past two years, the company regained the top spot in the first quarter by shipping 4.6 million units and achieving a 21 percent market share.
While the Southeast Asian smartphone market declined 9 percent on year to 21.6 million units, Samsung’s own shipments increased 4 percent.
In the Middle East, Samsung maintained its leading position with a 34 percent market share.
The regional smartphone market fell 6 percent on year to 11 million units due to weakening consumer sentiment and geopolitical uncertainty. Nevertheless, Samsung widened the gap with second-place competitors by leveraging the Galaxy S26 lineup and a revamped A series portfolio.
Samsung also retained its global leadership position.
According to Omdia last month, the company shipped 65.4 million smartphones worldwide in the first quarter, securing a 22 percent global market share.
Shipments increased 8 percent compared with the same period last year.
