South Korean game major Pearl Abyss Corp. delivered its strongest quarterly performance on record in the first quarter of 2026, driven by the global success of its new title “Crimson Desert.”
The company said Tuesday that first-quarter revenue came to 328.5 billion won ($220.2 million), up 419.8 percent from the same period a year ago. Its operating profit reached 212.1 billion won, up 2,584.8 percent. The figures mark the highest quarterly results since the company’s inception.
Net profit rose 2,107.8 percent on year to 170 billion won, swinging from a loss in the previous quarter.
Overseas sales accounted for 94 percent of total revenue in the first quarter. Among overseas sales, North America and Europe made up 81 percent, underscoring the global strength of Crimson Desert. By intellectual property (IP), revenue totaled 61.6 billion won from “Black Desert” and 266.5 billion won from Crimson Desert.
By platform, sales of Crimson Desert were evenly split, with consoles and PC each accounting for 50 percent.
Crimson Desert has drawn strong global reviews for its content depth, high-end graphics, and realistic physics, with critics saying the seven-year development cycle helped position it as a new benchmark in the open-world genre. The title sold 5 million copies worldwide within 26 days of its March launch.
The company also received positive feedback for rapid post-launch updates, including difficulty balancing, control refinements, and improvements to content and the user interface.
Pearl Abyss expected momentum from Crimson Desert to continue through the end of the year. The company forecasts full-year revenue of up to 975.4 billion won and operating profit of up to 572.6 billion won. Crimson Desert IP revenue is projected to reach up to 734.8 billion won.
