Company Will Present Higher-Dose Phase 1 Data on on May 27 in Barcelona
MetaVia CI
MetaVia Inc., an affiliate of Dong-A ST, announced on May 12 that the research results of ‘DA-1726’, a GLP-1 and Glucagon dual-agonist obesity treatment, have been selected as a ‘Late-Breaking Abstract, LBA’ at the EASL Congress 2026, the annual meeting of the European Association for the Study of the Liver, EASL, and will be presented as a poster.
The European Association for the Study of the Liver is a prestigious academic organization where liver disease experts from around the world share the latest guidelines and clinical data in major liver disease fields such as MASH, liver cancer, and cirrhosis. This year’s EASL Congress 2026 will be held in Barcelona, Spain, from May 27 to May 30.
In this poster presentation, Chris Fang, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of MetaVia, will introduce the research results under the theme ‘Safety, Tolerability, Pharmacokinetics, and Pharmacodynamics of DA-1726, an Oxyntomodulin Analogue, in a Higher-Dose Phase 1 Cohort with Exploratory Noninvasive Liver Assessment’.
DA-1726 is a novel drug candidate being developed as an obesity treatment in the Oxyntomodulin analogue class. By acting simultaneously on GLP-1 receptors and Glucagon receptors, it suppresses appetite, promotes insulin secretion, and increases basal metabolic rate in the periphery, ultimately inducing weight loss and blood sugar control.
MetaVia is currently conducting Phase 1 Part 3, applying ‘One-step’ and ‘Two-step’ dose escalation strategies to confirm the safety and optimize the tolerability when reaching high doses of DA-1726, and aims to secure data in the fourth quarter of this year.
Kim Hyung-heon, CEO of MetaVia, said, “DA-1726 is being developed as a next-generation obesity treatment with differentiated competitiveness, and we plan to confirm the optimal dose and tolerability through the ongoing Phase 1 Part 3.”
