The visit was part of a benchmarking initiative by the Kenyan government to advance healthcare innovation and develop smart hospitals in the country.

The delegation reviewed Myongji’s digital clinical environment, including automated diagnostics and integrated hospital systems, as examples of a Korean-style smart hospital model. Discussions also covered potential cooperation, including future healthcare-related official development assistance (ODA) programs.

The visiting party included prominent political and government figures such as Kenyan Ambassador to Korea Emmy Jerono Kipsoi, Kenyan National Assembly Health Committee member Julius Ole Sunkuli, Kenyan National Assembly Education Committee chairperson Julius Kibiwott Melly, and Executive Office of the President Strategy Advisor Veska Jepkemboi Kangogo.

Leaders and representatives from key institutions driving innovation in the health and education systems of Kenya, including the Kenya Medical Research Institute and the Commission for University Education, also attended. PCL CEO Kim So-yeon and Chung-Ang University Professor Lee Min-ho joined the meeting to support the exchange.

The event featured a presentation on the medical system of Korea and an introduction to the hospital attended by Myongji Medical Foundation Chairman Lee Wang-jun, Myongji Hospital President Kim In-byung, and members of the steering committee.

Participants exchanged views on how to apply the development direction of the healthcare system of Kenya by utilizing the digital-based clinical environment, diagnostic automation systems, and specialized center-oriented management of Myongji Hospital.

During the subsequent facility tour, the delegation observed the integrated medical systems of the hospital by visiting major specialized centers, including the rehabilitation center, intervention room, diagnostic laboratory automation room, hyperbaric oxygen therapy center, and the integrated cancer healing center.

“It is meaningful to showcase the innovative medical systems of Myongji Hospital to key figures leading the healthcare development of Kenya,” Chairman Lee said. “The expectation is that the visit will strengthen technical exchanges in the healthcare sector between the two countries and serve as a vital opportunity to build a lasting strategic partnership.”
