Huons BioPharma, a subsidiary of Huons Global, has obtained marketing approval in Kuwait for its type A botulinum toxin product, marking the company’s first entry into a Gulf Cooperation Council market.

The company said Friday that Kuwait’s Ministry of Health approved Hutox, marketed in Korea as Liztox, in a 100-unit formulation. The approval was secured through cooperation with its local partner Al Reyada.
“The Kuwait approval will serve as a foothold for expanding into the Middle East and the broader Gulf region,” the company said. “Kuwait is considered one of the GCC markets with strong demand for aesthetic and cosmetic procedures, supported by high-income consumers and growing interest in minimally invasive treatments.”
The country’s botulinum toxin market has been expanding, particularly through dermatology and aesthetic clinics, making Kuwait a strategically important market for the company's regional business, it added.
Based on the latest approval, Huons BioPharma plans to pursue broader expansion across the six GCC member states, including the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman and Bahrain. The company plans to strengthen its global competitiveness by responding to country-specific regulatory requirements and maintaining its quality management system.
To date, Huons BioPharma has obtained marketing approvals in 16 countries. In January, the company received approval from China’s National Medical Products Administration, opening the way for exports to the Chinese market. It is also pursuing approvals in key emerging markets, including Latin America, Southeast Asia and the Middle East.
“The Kuwait approval once again demonstrates Huons BioPharma’s global regulatory capabilities and product competitiveness,” Huons BioPharma CEO Lee Jeong-hee said. “We will continue to strengthen our global market presence by securing additional approvals and expanding supply in the GCC and Middle East.”
