Praying for Residents’ Well-being and Abundance… Adding Significance to Inheriting Traditional Culture
Macheon-myeon, Hamyang-gun, prayed for community harmony and prosperity through a traditional rain prayer ceremony.
On the 29th, Macheon-myeon held the ‘Hansin Valley Rain Prayer Ceremony’ at Cheonwang Halmae Park in Baekmu-dong to pray for the well-being of residents and a bountiful harvest. This event was organized to prevent natural disasters caused by recent extreme weather events and to strengthen community bonds.
The area around Cheonwang Halmae Park and Hansin Valley, where the event took place, is a representative local natural heritage site designated as National Scenic Site No. 72 in 2010. In particular, Ganaeso Waterfall is known as a place where rituals were performed before important village events since ancient times.
The rain prayer ceremony held on this day added significance as a gathering where residents could communicate and harmonize, while simultaneously inheriting local traditional culture. Heo Yong-hyeon, the head of Dochon Village, said, “I hope that the collective sincerity of the residents will lead to welcome rain and peace,” while Kim Bok-su, the head of Macheon-myeon, stated, “We will spare no administrative support for responding to climate change and preventing disasters.”
